Robbing God’s Church!
As you read this title I know where you think I'm going in this blog. Surprise!
(Psa 139:14) and I praise you because of the wonderful way you created me. Everything you do is marvelous! Of this I have no doubt.(CEV)
What a beautiful verse from Psalms. Carrying that thought forward our physical body is a creation of remarkable beauty and intricacy - that is, the very way every part relies on the other parts to perform properly – isn’t that an apt metaphor for a Christ centered church?
One of the problems I see is that churches today are filled with people who feel insignificant. They see other successful workers and they think maybe they're not really needed or assume they haven't got the right talents to make a worthwhile contribution. This is a lie of the enemy – He manages to get one more Christian to hold back in hopes that someone else will do the Lord’s work.
Hanging back instead of seeking a place to serve is a form of thievery: you're robbing the Lord's church - his people - of your unique talents and abilities. Your role might be small or go unnoticed, but it is vital to Jesus Christ and to the smooth functioning of his body on earth - the church.
Simple question for you to ponder … are you robbing God’s Church?
